Okay, there are a LOT of great Facebook pages to follow when it comes to health and fitness but there are a lot of absolute shockers out there as well – pages that spread body shaming messages and promote unrealistic programs from both a fitness and nutrition perspective.
Here are ten pages that I personally like to follow and have in my Facebook feed because I believe they are putting the right messages out in the public domain – messages that will empower the plus size community to make positive changes in their lives that are both manageable and sustainable.
Here we go. In no particular order, just as I thought of them and jotted them down:
- The Moderation Movement
- Body Positive Australia
- HAES Health
- Dr Rick Kausman
- Go Kaleo – Amber Rogers
- The Nutrition Guru and The Chef
- A Healthy Paradigm
- Reconnect Nutrition
- Love Your Shape by Janine Mison
As I say, there are plenty of others and in many cases you can find a heap of others just by looking at these pages.
When on social media, make sure you remove any pages (or people for that matter) from your feed that make you feel negatively about yourself or your circumstances. Making people feel bad is not the answer to helping people make meaningful, positive changes to improve their health and fitness.
I’ve posted a couple of other pieces over the last couple of months about decluttering your Facebook feed:
- Facebook Declutter: Step One – The Highlights Reel
- Facebook Declutter: Step Two – Unlike Pages and Leave Groups
If you’ve done a bit of declutter and your feed is looking a whole lot less negative, check out some of the above pages to see if you can start adding some additional positive messages in the mix. I promise, you won’t forget it.
